Food Supplements Canada
What is the best place to buy vitamins?

I understand that the Food and Drug Administration U.S. does not evaluate vitamins, supplements or herbal products before they are sold. Does this happen in Spain too?

Indeed, any answer given here is only personal opinion (I can give my opinion, if you wish). There are many higher quality companies out there that are readily available and well priced ... Only make sure the company has a good rating with either the GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) or USP (U.S. Pharmacopoeia), as are the primary organizations quality assurance (USP is for the U.S., GMP is for the U.S. and worldwide). Technically, the FDA does not evaluate actually vitamins and supplements, but not directly. They require certain limitations on the companies (who can not make statements that are not based on facts and research, which must meet at least what the bottle says is in it, etc) ... if you do not meet basic quality requirements and / or complaints if there are insufficient or pollution issues, the company can and will be closed by the FDA. Most of all firms with quality, even halfway decent will have some tests to maintain the FDA in the bay. Canada has different laws and regulations (which are outside of FDA jurisdiction), so it is more important to find the label of good manufacturing practices if it is made out U.S. (although it is likely to see some of them with USP anyway). Another thing to note is that there are some supplements that the Canadian government will not be sent or sold in Canada without restrictions (a recipe, for example). Some examples are some homeopathic products, probiotics, DHEA, and the list goes on ;-) Feel free to e-mail if you have additional questions
