Free Home Remedies For Pets

I cut my cats claws only when clearly needed. (ie visitors) Because I like my cats order to keep my house free of mice. And to defend themselves against others, dogs and other animals can cross. (Raccoons seem to be the favorite) I was recently stroking my second youngest and realized she did not want me anywhere near their claws. That is not normal for her. When you check your feet I realized that the claws getting too thick, to the point where there was no point or a curve to the claw. At the base of the nail that everything was cool and dry green pus yellowish pus. Some fingers feet, even very red. Now I've done my best to try to thin the nails (and restore their curve point), but problems at the base of the nail is not going. What I am looking for a home remedy to help dry and cure the nail base. Why do I say home remedy is that now I will not be able to afford a visit vet.
