my dog is coughing?

My Basset 2 years old has a mild cough. sounds something like a dry hack. it is also making strange sounds snoring during sleep. almost sounds like shes sick or about to vomit. but never cough anything. she has never had a cough ever. she's always been healthy. I'm financially strapped right now and not be able to afford to take her to the vet for another week, maybe 2. I will definitely get the vet as soon as possible. but one thing I do to prevent it getting worse or feel better until then? any remedies? thank you very much!
