Taking Vitamins While Pregnant

Is it ok to take regular vitamins while pregnant?

I only ask because i have been taking prenatal vitamins but they were only samples from my doctors and i ran out.My doc prescribed some more but i am unable to get them for lack of transportation right now. I have some one a day vitamins. So can i take them until i get my prenatal vitamins.

I have taken a prenatal muti-vitamin through each pregnancy on the advise of my doctor and OB-GYN. I believe that prenatal vitamins have higher levels of folic acid - but a regular multi-vitamin is probably good too.
