How far in advance should you take prenatal vitamins?

I read online that you can/should start taking prenatal vitamins up to two years in advance of conceiving. Is this true? What vitamins do you take? I usually buy a lot of things in bulk on ebay or at costco so if it's at one of those locations that'd be great. Thanks!

Well, I'm 17, and not conceiving anytime soon, but I take prenatal vitamins daily. I got them at Whole Foods and they are vegan and all natural. I also take vitamins because I have an iron deficiency and am often light-headed. I hope this helps.
