Articles On Vitamins And Minerals
What do you think about benefits of using soy shakes as a protein source?
I've been using a product called "Secure" complete meal replacement. When mixed w/water, it has just 70 cal (15 from fat) or if use f.f. milk has 160 cal (20 from fat). You can also use any juice type combo & AND best of all the carbohydrate content is less than 20g if you use soy milk. Since I am diabetic - this has been a wonderful find for me. Not only is it a source of my daily protein needs in 2 shakes, but it also contains more vitamins & minerals than what's in my Centrum Silver vitamin. I saw an article recently that was very down on protein shakes, claiming they just overload you with sugars & calories (perhaps some do) but this simply is not true regarding "Secure".Would anyone
else care to share an opinion about using these protein soy shakes for meal replacements?

I think they are a waste of money. Too much protein isn't necessary for a start.
We need a balance of protein, carbohydrates and fat.
Far better for you to eat your protein and enjoy it as part of a balanced diet.
An overload of protein can damage the kidneys.
Eat what you enjoy, drink soy if you like it, but don't waste money on protein shakes.
Any vitamins in them are synthetic, the body benefits more from vitamins in our natural foods.
